Podere La Damesca welcomes its guests into a place steeped in history. The hall that now houses the reception and restaurant was once a coaching station for travellers journeying between Rome and Siena.
Beneath the brick vaults of the old Acquapendente kiln, horses were changed, travellers rested, and enjoyed a meal before setting off again.
Today, the Perosillo family welcomes guests with the same warmth and spontaneity as in the past.
From May to September, La Fraschetta brings back the tradition of wine served alla frasca, accompanied by simple, genuine dishes reminiscent of those once enjoyed in rural taverns with locally produced wine.
The accommodations have been created from former farm annexes that once sheltered animals: they retain their original names, their authentic structure, and their rustic charm. Wooden beams, simple interiors, and green surroundings still tell the story of country life as it once was—enhanced by all the comforts needed for a pleasant and relaxing stay.
A path across the fields leads in just a few minutes to the beach on Lake Bolsena, easily reached on foot. Just a short walk from the property, you’ll also find a fully equipped beach club—an ideal spot to unwind by the lakeshore, soaking up the sun or enjoying an aperitivo at sunset.
Osteria "alla frasca"
In the countryside of Tuscia, the arrival of the new harvest was once announced with a simple gesture: a leafy branch hung above a doorway. That frasca signaled to travelers and locals alike: “The new wine is ready.”
This gave birth to the osterie alla frasca: informal, welcoming places where farmers, travelers, and friends gathered to share the house wine, accompanied by a few simple, flavorful dishes. Homemade bread, bruschetta with freshly pressed olive oil, cured meats, cheeses, and a few seasonal recipes were enough to create the perfect atmosphere—filled with laughter, stories, and shared silences.
There were no menus, no formalities: alla frasca you drank, you nibbled, and you enjoyed time together, immersed in the genuine simplicity of rural life.
Today, La Fraschetta at Podere La Damesca revives that same spirit, with the spontaneity and warmth of times past. Beneath ancient brick vaults, the aroma of fresh bread, new olive oil, and local wine sets the tone for slow, convivial evenings in a place that doesn’t imitate the past but brings it back to life.
